This is our go-to recipe for family get togethers and company because it comes together quickly and it always gets rave reviews. These fish tacos are so flavorful and satisfying but you will feel good and light at the end of the meal.
This recipe is party sized and can be scaled down to feed a smaller crowd. It was developed by my brother-in-law, Slavik and it has been adopted by pretty much everyone in our family. I have had so many requests to publish the recipe so here it is! It’s an easy, excellent fish tacos recipe. Thank you Slavik for sharing your awesome fish tacos with us. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to ever get tired of this recipe. P.S. They just happen to be gluten free fish tacos!
Seriously though, be generous with that fish taco sauce! The sauce recipe was adapted from Kaylee on All Recipes. We simply doubled it because there never seems to be enough of the sauce ;).
Ingredients for Fish Tacos:
We used tilapia but you are welcome to use any white fish. Salmon or shrimp would be amazing as well!
Fish Taco Toppings:
*Cotija cheese is a Mexican cheese that crumbles when you grate it; similar to feta but much milder in flavor and not nearly as salty. It is inexpensive and found in the refrigerated cheese section of the grocery store.
Ingredients for Best Fish Taco Sauce:
For the fish taco sauce, all you need is sour cream, mayo, lime juice, garlic powder and sriracha. The sriracha gives it a little kick of spice so you can add more or less based on your preference. This taco sauce is essentially a lime crema – the perfect blend of tanginess and heat (print the recipe below).
How to Make Fish Tacos:
1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment or silicone liner. In a small dish, stir together seasonings: 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper and evenly sprinkle the seasoning mix over both sides of tilapia.
2. Lightly drizzle fish with olive oil and top each piece with a dot of butter. Baked at 375˚F for 20-25 min. If you want it to get a little browned around the edges, you can broil for 3-5 minutes at the end if desired.
3. Combine all the Taco sauce ingredients: 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/3 cup Mayo, 2 Tbsp lime juice (from 1 medium lime), 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp Sriracha sauce, or to taste in a medium bowl or a large measuring cup and whisk together until well blended. It’s really fun and feels like dining out to serve the sauce in a squeeze bottle like this one.
4. To serve the tacos, toast quickly toast the corn tortillas on a large dry skillet or griddle over medium/high heat.
5. To assemble: start with the fish then add remaining ingredients finishing off with a generous sprinkle of cotija cheese and finally that awesome taco sauce! Serve with a fresh lime wedge to squeeze extra lime juice over tacos.
Mmmm so much sauce! I’m so crazy about this taco sauce. Seriously the best!

Love Tacos? Don’t miss our most popular taco recipes here (the beef bulgogi and shrimp tacos are completely swoon worthy!)
I’m so tempted to make these again for dinner tonight. I will never stop loving this recipe! I hope you all love it as much as we do.
We had some halibut and were looking for a new way to use it. Your recipe was perfect! Even my husband, who doesn’t cook, was able to make it and they were delicious!
Wow! That’s just awesome, Tracy! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
I made this recipe today and would like to start by saying the fish seasoning is WICKED GOOD! I will use it on fish even not for tacos! Also the sauce is TO DIE FOR, I wanna put it on EVERYTHING now (haha)! No fault of your recipe, I did not have Cotija cheese on hand (only Sharp Cheddar). Next time I will be sure to get right cheese. Thank you so much for this recipe, it is a KEEPER!!!
Sounds like a great plan! Great to hear that you enjoyed this recipe and the sauce too.
How about using halibut? Only white fish I have in my freezer.
Hi Mary Beth, I haven’t tried using that fish for this recipe. I think it’s worth trying, if you do an experiment, please share with us how it goes.
I love these tacos, have been making them for over a year now… What is the serving size? I’m assuming 1 taco? I’m using the WW tool and trying to track my points so I have all the information I need to add this recipe but I want to make sure I’m correct on the serving size.
Hi Ellen, just for future reference, the serving size is towards the top of the recipe card and the nutrition is per serving. In this case, it is per taco since the recipe makes 24 small tacos.
I’ve never been a fan of fish tacos. I’ve even tried quite a few of the restaurants who have the “best fish taco” claim and I’ve been underwhelmed every time. For whatever reason, I wanted some yesterday and decided to make them myself. I found and made this recipe. Let me just say OMG! For me, it was the way the heat of the fish and creamy coolness of the sauce melded. I will be making the recipe many more times in the future. Absolutely amazing. Thank you.
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Tami! This is always a hit in our home!
LOVE these. Easy and delicious. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for side dishes to make to go with it ?Thank you!
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Cassandra!
Everything was delicious but a teaspoon of fine salt was way too much for the fish. It made the whole taco too salty. I’d definitely reduce it to a half teaspoon next time I make these.
No worries, feel free to reduce the salt level of the recipe and adjust it according to your preference.
I used cod instead of tilapia. Easy recipe, and great taste!
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us!
The ingredients in Taco and simplicity of fish prep was lovely. The fish sauce was pretty bland
Hi Katy, I’m glad you liked the tacos, although I think you are the first to say that the sauce was bland – I wonder if you changed anything or skipped or substituted any of the ingredients. It’s normally super flavorful and this is probably our #1 most popular recipe on our site.
we are going camping and we would love to make this do you think it will be ok to use Frozen Tilapia
Hi Brooke, I would thaw the tilapia in the fridge first or quick thaw in water. I would not cook it from frozen.
We make this at least once a month! Thank you for this awesome recipe.
I’m so happy this recipe made your regular rotation, kate! That’s so great!
Do you happen to have the nutritional facts for just the sauce?
Hi Michelle, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get that. I’ll make sure to remember to do that next time.
After making this recipe a million times, dismally decided to leave a review lol
I have made this recipe 100 times and it is so delicious, easy and healthy – which I love!
My family members loved it as well; the colors and flavors are so perfect together!!!! 😀
Yummy sauce, and I am currently doing keto so I just omit the tortillas and still amazing!
Can’t express how happy I am with this recipe!
Thanks for sharing this yummy creation with us Natasha ! Kudos
I’m so glad this was a hit, Lachae! Thank you for sharing your amazing review with me!
I made these tacos tonight and they were amazing!! That homemade sauce was everything. My fiance and boys loved them, they came back for thirds, lol. Wonderful recipe, thank you again 🥰
Hello Shayla, thanks for the wonderful feedback! I’m happy to know that your family loved these tacos.
Hi! I made these tacos with tilapia and the recipe was amazing but I didn’t love the taste of the fish. What are the best alternatives in white fish?
Hi Bella, this recipe is pretty versatile; you are welcome to use your favorite fish. Several of our readers tried it with cod also.
Hi! Im trying to scale this recipe down to just 2 servings, can you help me?
HI Aeryn, if you click on the serving size, you will be able to adjust the ingredient list (not the actual recipe instructions, but at least the ingredient list) to help you with preparing the ingredients.
My partner and I made this last night and it was delicious! The baked fish recipe is a great replacement to battered fish for our dishes.
Hello Linh, thank you for sharing that with us and for giving this recipe a review! Glad you both loved this recipe.
I just made as your recipe creamy chicken Alfredo pasta. It’s so delicious. Everything is perfect. Tasty and healthy. Thank you so much for sharing us. Thank you to your mom too. You referred your mom when you cook. Love your videos. You are amazing. Thank you.
You are so welcome, Jasmine. It is a pleasure, I hope you’ll love the recipes that you will try!
Tasted delicious! I was wondering if the serving size on the nutrition is per taco?
Hi Amber, the number of servings is listed towards the top of the recipe card and the calorie count is per serving.
I made this tonight and when you put everything together like the recipe reads, they were delicious! You can still make your own little adjustments. I did not and they were DAMN GOOD! Natasha’s Kitchen is the best!! Make the tacos! Have a great day too!!
Perfect! I’m glad you loved how it turned out, Erin. Thanks for sharing that with us!
I’m trying these tonight. Natasha’s Kitchen is my go to for 99% of my recipes.
Thank you for your trust, Erin. I hope you love all the recipes that you will try!
So I made them last night and they were delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and when you put your taco together and bite into all that flavour, OMG fantastic. Natasha’s Kitchen is the best!!
Wonderful feedback, Erin. Thank you so much for sharing that with us!
Haven’t tried it yet, but can’t wait! We’re trying to steer ourselves away from Taco Tuesdays because we’re all getting fat and unhealthy, so we’re doing Tuesday Board Game night, and I’ll make these. Still tacos, but a little better for our hearts. Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome and I hope it becomes your new favorite.
These tacos are excellent. My husband and I enjoyed the tacos very much. Thank you!
Great to hear that you both enjoyed these tacos!
Have you ever even been to Mexico? Street Fish Tacos use deep fried fish,,, always.
And, what is your point? Is this recipe any less valuable to you because it has baked fish? For health reasons, I cannot eat deep fried fish. I am happy to find this recipe. If I weren’t happy with it, I would just move along and not make a remark like that. Recipes are ever evolving, all around the world.
So good! This recipe made me change my mind about cilantro.. love it now!
Wow!! I’m so glad you loved it, Julia!! This is one of my favorite recipes, and I’m happy you enjoyed it also!
This is the best recipe! My first time making fish taco and I love love loveeeed it! The sauce was to die for! I had to make double the recommended amount because it was just that good!
You can use basically any fish. The cooking method was spot on and make the fish succulent.
Thank you Natasha!!!
Exactly! The sauce is a must, but this recipe is so versatile! I’m glad you enjoyed it, Ti!
How long will the sauce last in the fridge?
Hi Matt, This sauce keeps well covered in the refrigerator for a few days. It can be used on almost anything!
Yep! As good as everyone says. I got a ‘Best fish tacos I’ve ever tasted’ comment. I served them by filling the tortilla with the fish and pouring the sauce myself, and then letting them decide on the other ingredients. That way there was enough sauce. Thanks for the recipe!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Ben! The sauce is a must-have, so good call on poring that!
The sauce is to die for!! Just made them for the 1st time tonight hello yummy!!!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review!
These were fantastic! I opted to use store bought fresh deli pico de Gallo rather than deal with chopping tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. I also tripled the recipe for the rub and the sauce. I cooked the fish and also cooked some boneless skinless chicken thighs to freeze for quick dinners in the future. The seasoning was great and the sauce was amazing. I especially liked that this fish taco recipe was baked and not breaded. Every other fish taco recipe I’ve tried was breaded, which I’m not a fan of- plus this is a much healthier option!
Will absolutely make this again!
The sauce is a must-have! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe, Valerie!
I am not a big fish eater but these were awesome! So easy to cook. Even my 5 year old loved them! I did cut back a bit on the cayenne (for said 5 year old) but there was still plenty of flavor and a nice spice to them. Keeping this recipe!
That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great!
This is our new family go-to recipe! So easy to prepare With great results. We used haddock fillets which worked perfectly.
Hello Kelly, so happy to know that this is your new favorite recipe! Thanks for your good comments and feedback.
Soooo good. The family raves about this heathy meal. I substituted Fage plain Greek yogurt for the sour cream.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review!
This was amazing all the flavors popped such a great combination so fresh these will be my fish tacos forever!!!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Jennifer!
I was looking online for a fish taco sauce recipe and came across your recipe. I have to say it is the best sauce!! I cheated and made the quick frozen beer battered fish in the air fryer, but had all the other toppings on hand. The sauce on the tacos was sooooo good! So easy to make as we already had all the ingredients on hand. Thank you Natasha!
Hi Racquel, good to know that the recipe turned out so great! I’m glad you enjoyed it, you’re so welcome.
Yep, these were delicious!! No leftovers. I followed the recipe exactly. Thanks! 🙂
You’re welcome, Jacy! Thanks for your great review.
I use this recipe so often that the proper thing to do was to personally say thank you so much! I had searched for the perfect fish taco recipe for a long time until I found this one. We have tried both the Fish and Shrimp taco recipes and love them both.
We use grouper and flounder for the fish tacos and both have been great. We use defrosted uncooked Key West shrimp for the tacos and they’re perfect. We use Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Juice or key limes for the sauce and it really gives it a good flavor vs plain limes. We do use a little less of cayenne. I make enough extra fish so we can have salads using the fish and crema sauce the next day.
We have taco Tuesday every week so this recipe has been tested numerous times at our house! Again, thank you for such a great recipe that has been shared with lots of friends here in FL.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Laura! Taco Tuesday is a must!
Delicious! A family favorite!
That’s so great! That’s the best when you find a family favorite!
Does the fish do well reheated the next day for leftovers? If so, what is the best way to reheat?
Hi Angela, we enjoy it best fresh, but that may work! I would recommend finding a way to reheat it without overcooking it. Perhaps the oven or a skillet.
YUM! That’s all I have to say. Such a good recipe I loved it so much!! Definitely would recommend – it was super easy too 🙂
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Kelly!
These were delicious and easy to make. Will definitely make them again.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Charlotte! I hope you make these tacos over and over – they’re that good!
These tacos were amazing! We didn’t even have all the trimmings on hand but seasoned up some cod and cooked per recipie and made a lime crema (less mayo – since we had none) and added some pickled jalapeno band Mexican cheese blend we had on hand and also flour tortillas. Still was delicious!! I can only imagine how good they are as written. Thanks for sharing! Will def make again!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you were able to make it work, thanks for your good feedback!
I could eat these every day, too! Best fish tacos we’ve made at home by far. Substituted shallots and halved grape tomatoes for the red onion/roma and they were so good. Picky kids ate the tilapia, too! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Me too, Jennie! Me too! Tacos are my absolute favorite, and these are popular for a good reason! I’m so glad you and your kids loved these!
Natasha I want you back. Where did you go. Loved your style and those most delicious recipes
Hi Marie! We post recipes weekly! If you haven’t already, make sure you subscribe to my Youtube channel HERE channel for alerts on new videos!
Holy cow delicious!! I copied the recipe to the T with the toppings and Delish white sauce but to make it even easier since we’ve had a exhausting weekend we baked frozen beer battered fish in the oven and wow definitely a keeper recipe thank you!
Sounds perfect! It’s always great to see comments like this, thank you for sharing that with us!
These are delicious!! My whole fam loves them including my 1yr old 🙂 making them again tonight! Adding these into our weekly rotation for sure. Thanks!!
That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great!
This is my first time ever leaving a comment on a recipe on the Internet and boy when I tell you this recipe brought it out of me! My husband and I tag teamed the prep while the fish baked and used the recipe as a solid foundation for the tweaks we made for our taste. I handled the fish and followed the recipe with the exception of adding onion and garlic powder to the seasoning mix. The hubby freestyled the taco toppings and sauce mixes using the recipe as a base. We like to put our sauce on the tortilla first and go overboard on the cotija cheese and that first bite tho……!!!! Spectacular! This will be saved for the rotation, periodt.
That is fantastic! I’m glad you both enjoyed making this recipe and loved the result too. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
This was absolutely delicious! I used cod and left out the cilantro (because we hate it). We will be making this again!
I love the idea of making cod fish tacos. Yum!
A friend made these for us, I had never eaten a fish taco, and after this dinner (made with fresh caught snapper) I can’t wait to make it myself again and again!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite!
First one I ever made fish tacos or ever ate them! My husband has had them out before. He said these were the best he ever had!! I loved them! Thanks
That’s awesome feedback, thank you for sharing that with us, Laura!
These fish tacos were delicious! My family enjoyed them especially with the incredible sauce. Thanks!
That’s great, Sue. I’m glad your family enjoyed this recipe!
This was really good! My husband is not a huge seafood fan, and he went back for seconds. Everything about this recipe is fabulous! My whole family loved it.
We always go back for seconds with fish tacos! I’m so happy you enjoyed that, NK!
This is our go-to recipe for fish tacos – although I tend to use cod instead of tilapia and use shredded chicken (with the same spice mix) for those that don’t like fish. Perfect, delicious tacos every time! Even better with homemade tortillas. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Sian! I’m so happy you’re enjoying our recipes!
Wow! Everything about these tacos were delicious, easy, and quick to make! I will definitely be making it again! All of your recipes never disappoint!
I’m happy to see your feedback, Charlene. Thank you for sharing!
I made the tacos tonight and they were delicious. I wouldn’t change a thing. The taco sauce is killer. Thank you !
Wow, thanks for your great comments and review, Alison. Happy to hear that you loved this recipe!
Hi Natasha! I have made this twice. Two weekends in a row it was so delicious. One question though, we’re do you find “light sesame oil? I looked at 4 grocery stores and unable to locate.
Hi Susan, we have it in our local grocery store. I’m wondering if it’s carried geographically.. I recommend searching online also.
Yummy! Will try this today for dinner. Can’t wait to see the result. Thank you Natasha for your beautiful recipes. I’ve tried most of them and they are delicious. Love your show.
Aww, You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
Do you have a dairy-free dressing option for the fish tacos? Grateful!
Hi Meghan, I haven’t tried a dairy-free substitute to advise on the outcome. If you happen to try or find something, I’d love to know how it works out.
I have never had fish tacos. I fixed this tonight and shared it with my neighbors who have never had fish tacos, one being very picky. All three of us greatly enjoyed these and are now fans! Very good recipe!!!
These are always a hit! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe, Amy!
On Christmas day in 2019 my husband and I were in Puerto Vallarta, and we had fish tacos at some small, “hole in the wall” kind of a place. The best I’ve had in my life! Since then, I cooked many recipes and this one is among the best. I used salmon, I cut it in 1 inch strips and cooked it at 375 F for about 25 minutes and broiled for 3 minutes or so, for crispiness.
My husband said these were “the best fish tacos ever”, even better than the ones we had in Mexico!
My advice: use any fish but tilapia.
Hello Carmen, wow that is an awesome compliment. Thanks to you both for trying out this recipe and giving it a great review!
Yup, that sauce! The baking info is great too. These are delicious! I add chopped lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro, and avocado.
Thank you so much for your great comments and feedback, Heather!
Simply delicious and easy to make, also kids approved!
Hi Tanya, thanks for your good feedback! I’m happy to hear that your kids also enjoyed these tacos.
I’ve made these many times and love this recipe. Can they be frozen and reheated? Thank you!
Great to hear that, Nina. Glad you loved this recipe! This sauce keeps well covered in the refrigerator for a few days. It can be used on almost anything!
Second time making these, the one adjustment I made is to double the seasoning for the tilipia ( I probably use 1 1/2 the amount and sav the rest) as we like spicy food, but wow it’s delicious and easy.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Erin! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Truly a fantastic recipe. I swapped chipotle for cayenne because I love the smokiness. Also, swapped fresh flounder for tilapia because that’s what we catch here. My daughter and I had four tacos each. It was hard to stop eating them. Sooooo good.
Thanks for sharing your experience trying this recipe, Ed. Glad to hear that the substitute ingredients that you used worked great! Thanks for sharing that with us.
My kids and I made these last night. Hands down delicious and we will be making them more and more! Also, we only changed the recipe by adding a little more Sriracha to the sauce… yum!!!
That is the best when kids love what we parents make. That’s so great!
How long does the Taco Sauce last in the fridge?
Hi Marge, I think it will last for a couple of weeks, but I haven’t tried it longer than a few weeks to advise of the exact time.
These were delicious. The sauce was amazing. I had frozen beer battered cod fillets on hand and made the spice mixture and sprinkled it on both sides of the fish. Baked them per directions on the fist package and we all loved them. I will be passing out the recipe to family and friends.
Thank you, Debbie. I hope your family and friends will love this recipe too!
If I want to double this recipe, any tips? Can you cook the same temp and time?
Hi Lisa, you can double the recipe using the same instructions. If you click on the serving size in the recipe card, you can slide it up or down to scale the recipe ingredient lists. I hope that helps!
My sister made them and sent the recipe to my 6 sisters and nieces. I didn’t have red cabbage so I used broccoli slaw. It was delicious!
Yum! I’m glad that worked out!
Can I use Ranchero cheese instead of cotija? Its a Mexican crumbly cheese
Hi Monica, I honestly haven’t tried that yet to advise. If you do an experiment, please share with us how it goes!
Delicious!! Love the sauce
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Mariana!
This is the second recipe that I tried and loved! I did switch the fish to Mahi Mahi it was delicious! The sauce was incredible! I’m so happy I found your website.Thank you for the recipes and tips.😊
You’re very welcome, Lulu. I’m also happy that you found and love my recipes!
We LOVE these tacos!!
… I double the seasoning!!
We like them spicy!!
I also use cod, it’s meatier than tilapia.
And yep! I double the sauce too!!
Thanks Natasha!
Our absolute favorite! I’m so glad you enjoyed them also!
I must add…
No way do we use the small tortillas! We use the medium size, flour ones and we stuff those suckers! They’re so good!
Hmmm…ups the calories tho!
Oh well.
Thanks again!
Oh I bet you can fit a lot more fish and flavor into those medium flour tortillas!
Very good!
Thank you!
Careful with seasoning! It’s fantastic, but spicy. I had 4 filets-cut in half. We love spicy food and it was to much for us. I was able to scrap a little off-but a little goes a long way ;).
Thanks for the reminder, Flavia.
Love this recipe. I am going to make it for a crowd and would like to know how far in advance I can make the sauce
Hi Christine, This sauce keeps well covered in the refrigerator for a few days. It can be used on almost anything!
I tried this recipe tonight and it was SO good! We grilled our tilapia (roasted and ground our own cumin too for the fish seasoning). This recipe is so fantastic, we will be making it often! You are absolutely right about that sauce, it is wonderful!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Holly!
I made these last night. Absolutely delicious. I used cod instead of tilapia only because I had cod on hand. So so good!!!
Hi Annmarie, so great to hear that you enjoyed this recipe! Thanks a lot for sharing that with us.
I have made these tacos and sauce 3 times now, each and every time my non seafood eating son and husband have both raved. They went back for seconds each time. I never leave reviews, but had to share! I make so many of your recipes and each one has been wonderful! Thank you!!
That is great to hear, Christine! I’m glad your family loved this recipe, thank you for sharing a review.
I used the sauce recipe but instead of 1/2 cup of sour cream, I used 1/4 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup crema and it turned out amazing
That’s great to hear, Rachael. Thanks for your review, I’m glad you liked the recipe!
Really enjoyed this fish taco recipe and the sauce is fabulous! We loved the seasoning and preparation for the fish. Easy and delicious Friday night taco night!
The best Friday night meal! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Sheila!
Best fish tacos! So simple to make and yet so delicious. My father in law was telling me about the best fish tacos he’s ever had in Mexico. I made him this recipe and he said they are the best tacos he’s ever tasted. Few days later he asks me for the recipe because he is wants to make them for his guests. Five star recipe for sure! Natasha’s Kitchen are my go-to recipes. I haven’t made anything I don’t like and my guests always ask for recipes.
It is popular for a good reason! I’m glad this recipe was a hit! Thank you for that awesome review!
Just made this tonight. So easy and flavourful! My teens loved it! If it’s just a small family, cut the taco sauce in half because it makes quite a bit!
That’s so great, Stephanie! That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great!
I loved this. Even my 4 year old tried it and liked it. A very good one for my taco Tuesday rotation.
That is the best when kids love what we parents make. That’s so great!
My husband raved about this recipe. He said he would never order fish tacos out again. This recipe blew him away! So fresh and delicious.
They really are the best! I’m so happy he loved this recipe!
Absolutely awesome. Made this so many times and it’s a winner. The whole family loves this 🙏
I’m happy to hear that, Amanda. Good to know that your family loved it too!
These tacos were so good! I used Costco’s frozen cod fillets and I completely left out the salt—I may be sensitive. Everything else was perfect and that sauce is to die for! Thank you for posting such a wonderful, easy and healthy recipe! Will be adding to the rotation!
You are very welcome, I’m happy with your good comments and feedback! Thank you so much for your review.
I prepared this meal before and my husband loved it. I used catfish. He said he would like catfish this way without the taco fixings so tonight I did it. I put the taco sauce on it and served it with cilantro lime rice and slaw. It was fabulous as well.
That’s nice to know, thanks for sharing that with us, LuAnn!
Amazing! I never write reviews but I couldn’t not for this one. Thank you! This will be a repeat meal for sure.
Thank you for your great review, Emily!
Love this recipe. We use Mahi-Mahi instead of Tilapia and it is wonderful. I also have used the spice mixture on chicken wings and it is a big favorite.
Hello Aaron, so great to hear that! Thank you for your wonderful review and I hope you’ll love every recipe that you will try!
Seriously…sooooo good!!! It’s taking everything in me not to eat every single one of these right now. The sauce is every bit as good as it has been said to be. Thank you for such an awesome recipe. I will definitely be adding these to the rotation.
I know, it can be very tempting haha. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Colleen!
I made this for company and they loved it! I made it exactly as written- I used fresh tilapia and I even bought a squeeze bottle for the sauce. I was so good! I served it with elotes and mojitos. I’ll definitely make this again.
Hello Jenny, that’s great to know! Thank you for sharing that with us, glad the recipe was a hit!
I used Icelandic Haddock as that is what I had. This was delicious. I cooked the Haddock in my air fryer for 10 minutes. This has now been added to our meal rotation.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me. I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
I’m watching my calories and I’m so excited to try these. What is the serving size for these fish tacos please, thank you.
Hi Marsha, the number of servings is listed towards the top of the recipe card and the calorie count is per serving.
The fish tacos are fabulous. But the sauce, oh my goodness…it’s the best. Great on just about anything!! I made grilled chicken breast tacos today, with this sauce…YUM!!
We absolutely LOVE the sauce! I’m so glad you enjoyed it also!
Have made this several times and always a hit!
Tonight, I ran out of cayenne so substituted chili powder.
Placed the sauce in a small tipped bottle (usually just a serving bowl) to control the amount of sauce.
I am not a big fan of corn tacos so usually have mine with a salad and it is delicious warm or cold!
My family thanks you!
You’re welcome, Alex. Thanks for sharing your great review and feedback with us! I’m happy to know that you and your family enjoyed the recipe.
My husband is always requesting for me to make this recipe for dinner! It is quick and simple, and comes together very easily! We LOVE taco nights!
Hi Crissy, thanks for sharing that with us. Great to know that your husband loved this recipe and is requesting it always!
These are amazing so easy to make. My whole family loves these. Cant seem to get enough, thank you for providing the recipe.
Thanks for your great review! I hope you’ll love every recipe that you will try.
10/10 would make this again!!!! I think I put too much cayenne on the fish though – too spicy for my family. OOPS. But otherwise it was soooo goooood *drool*
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
I had leftover pickerel. I only left out the cabbage. It was delicious!! Loved it.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
I won’t be ordering fish tacos out anymore because this is the best I have ever had – and my son agrees. Incredible flavors!
Perfect, you can now make this recipe anytime you and your son will crave it! Thanks for your great review.
Love these. Just made it with a twist. For the cabbage, tossed with french vinaigrette, juice from one lime and a bit of salt and pepper. Really tangy and adds a layer of seasoning (sour) to the dish beyond the lime squeezes.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Matt! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
So good! First time making these and they were amazing 🙂
Perfect, I’m glad you loved this recipe. Thanks for sharing that with us, Katie!
Wow! This is so good. I live alone and that is a lot of ‘work’ for one person…SO I often, make the fish as directed. Then add a tossed salad and use the sauce as my dressing. Yummers! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Gretchen! I’m glad you found a method that works for you!
My kind of food. Quick andyummy
The Fish Tacos were absolutely delicious! I have never left a recipe review and I had to! Thank you for such a fabulous recipe. My family loved it. Made the fish exactly as stated cooked for 20 minutes. I did make Pico with the red onion, tomato and cilantro I also added 1 diced jalapeno seeds removed and fresh lime juice. I unfortunately forgot to buy the cheese. Wish I knew how to post a photo. Can’t wait to try the Bulgogi Taco Recipe next! Natasha your a true gem! Keep doing what you do!
Thank you for your wonderful review, Lisa! I’m glad you still loved it without the cheese.
These tacos were amazing! I think the sauce is what perfected them. This will be my go to recipe for fish tacos from now on.
Thank you!
Yay, that’s fantastic! Thanks for your great review, Jessica.
Made the tacos and followed the instructions exactly. They turned out exlent. I will be making them again.
Glad you enjoyed the tacos, William!
I want to make for a dinner party, but, don’t want to serve for awhile after arrival. Suggestions for keeping fish and tortillas warm without drying out?
Hi Jan, they are best fresh after warming up, but you can use a tortilla warmer to keep them warm.
Thank you so much for sharing your cooking method for the tilapia. I’ve tried either methods for years, but the fish seems to come out too dry or too fried tasting. The olives oil and butter give them a moister texture. I’d post a pic to show you but I can’t figure out how to do it : ))
You’re welcome, Gail! I’m so happy you enjoyed that. You’re welcome to upload your photo to social media – FB or IG and hashtag #natashaskitchen
This recipe is very tasty. I used tilapia and salmon and I grilled them along with the corn tortillas instead of turning on the oven (I love to be outside as much as possible plus clean up is much quicker). Thank you for the easy and delicious recipe.
You’re welcome, Jennifer! I’m so happy you enjoyed that.
These tacos are truly delicious! I’ll make it for the second time tonight.
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us!
Way too spicy. I halved the cayenne and added a bit of brown sugar – and we are still ON FIRE (Whimps??). Made sauce and added water to thin- sauce was good. Overall liked the IDEA of this recipes…but need to make less HOT.
Thank you Natasha!!! best fish tacos ever.
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us!
So ….. these tacos ….. we can eat these every-single-week. Always use cod. But everything else is exactly the same. Just can’t get enough of them. If you are on the fence make the jump. You won’t be sorry. As a matter of fact don’t hesitate for a moment to try any of Natasha’s recipes. I have to get better at commenting but I have never been disappointed following her recipes and great direction. Thanks Natasha!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Cheryl! Thank you for the wonderful review!
This recipe is excellent. Don’t need to adjust anything. So easy and fresh tasting. For my younger kids made tilapia without cayenne. Delicious. A family favourite.
I’m so glad you found a family favorite, Susan! That’s just awesome!
These are amazing! Definitely use Sriracha and not some other hot sauce. Makes a huge difference.
It’s our favorite and most popular recipe! I’m so glad you enjoyed it as well!
The sauce is incredible. I have to double it every time I make it because my family will use it on everything
That’s just awesome! I’m so glad your entire family loves it! We absolutely LOVE the sauce!
The only fish taco recipe I ever use!! These are delicious, and the sauce is amazing
Yay, that is fantastic! Thanks for your awesome review and feedback, Danika.
My husband and I absolutely love this recipe!!! We used fresh caught ling cod. The spices are perfect and the sauce is to die for 🙂
Love it, great to hear that you enjoyed this recipe, Jane! Thank you for your great comments and feedback, Jane.
really good recipe! I made a couple of changes to feed 3 ppl … I used my homemade fajita seasoning generously sprinkled on about 3 pounds of red snapper filets. for the sauce, I mixed about 1.5 Tbsp Dukes mayo, 1/2 Tbsp sour cream, 1/8 tsp garlic powder and a squeeze of half lime. I also left out the cheese and avocado because it was so tasty, it didn’t need one thing more!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
Dying to try this recipe, but there are only 2 of us. For the sauce, just halve this recipe, or use the similar sauce (but different ingredient proportions) on the beef bulgogi recipe? Thx!
Sounds good! I hope you love it.
Absolutely amazing! I have made this a few times now. I love the seasoning on the fish and the sauce. So much flavor!
Hello Kati, that’s great feedback! Thanks for sharing that with us.
Never had fish tacos before. I forgot Avocado but ran with it anyways. It was awesome, I used Walleye, I will definitely be eating this again. Thank you for all the instructions and videos.
You’re most welcome, Matthew! Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Natasha,
I love your recipes and would love to try these. Could you please let me know how many taco’s one average a person eats? We’re a family of 5 (three young kids). Thank you!
Hi Sharon, it really depends and it is very hard to estimate but this recipe makes 24 tacos.
I used to order fish tacos at restaurants until I discovered these. They are the best and everyone I’ve made them for raves about them.
These are so popular, and we love them so much more being homemade! I’m glad you enjoyed this recipe!
Made this for my partner and I and we LOVED it! Not long later we made this again when we hosted our friends for dinner and they LOVED it!
I swapped sourcream with low fat yogurt and still tastes pretty good!
I’m glad this recipe was a hit! Thank you for your great comments and feedback.
Just made these today and the whole family loved them!! It was so easy and fun to put together! We all love the shrimp ones as well. Thanks Natasha for your wonderful recipes!!
You are very welcome, Mahi! I’m glad that you loved this recipe. Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback!
Followed the recipe and ours were really salty die some reason. Next time I will just leave the salt out completely. Sauce was great!
Sounds good, feel free to omit it from the recipe or adjust the seasoning according to your preference.
Delish! Fan favorite every time we make fish tacos.
Thanks, Kathryn and great to hear that this is one of your favorite recipes.
Excellent recipe! Hubby loved the tacos!
That’s so great! Thank you for the wonderful review!
So delicious – thank you! Decreased the spice to suit my kids, but they were a hit all around. Any suggestions for uses for leftover sauce? I have quite a bit and didn’t want to toss it.
I’m so glad you all enjoyed it, Courtney! This sauce keeps well covered in the refrigerator for a few days. It can be used on almost anything!
Prepared your fish tacos tonight for dinner and my husband and I both agreed they were the best fish tacos I have ever served up!! Thank you.
That is so wonderful! Thank you for your awesome feedback, CJ.
